Disgaea Mayhem Story Walkthrough — All 8 Chapters

Disgaea Mayhem launched worldwide on July 23, 2026, with a compact eight-chapter campaign that most players finish in 5–10 hours. The story follows mercenary N.A., hired by Overlord Tichelle to recover pieces of the legendary Pristine Gleam Flan stolen by rebel generals across the Super Duper Netherworld. Each chapter is built from bite-sized episodes: clear enemy waves in arena-style combat, then face a named boss who holds a stolen flan portion.

This walkthrough covers every chapter boss, sensible level targets, and when to pause story progress for Item World dives. Spoiler level: boss names and mission structure only — no ending dialogue.

How Story Chapters Work

Every chapter follows the same rhythm:

  1. Hub briefing — Tichelle or an ally assigns the next flan recovery target at the Dark Chocolate Assembly hub
  2. Episodes — Short combat arenas with escalating enemy waves; dash-heavy movement is essential
  3. Boss fight — A named general with a break meter; counter windows and Ult. Skills matter more here than raw button mashing
  4. Return to hub — Pass Assembly bills, upgrade gear, optionally dive Item World before the next chapter

Chapters unlock sequentially. You cannot skip ahead. Side systems (Magichange, Battle Buddies, Cheat Shop) open gradually — see Getting Started if you are still learning controls.

Story difficulty is forgiving if you dive Item World between chapters. Launch reviewers report jumps from level 30 to 80 in a single 15-minute Item World session when EXP multipliers are unlocked.

If a boss feels impossible, leave the episode, run Item World on your primary weapon, and return over-levelled — that is the intended Disgaea solution. Read First Week Tips for early Assembly bill priorities.

Chapter-by-Chapter Breakdown

Chapter 1 — Kory (Back) in the House

N.A. accepts Tichelle’s contract (Steam achievement: Wanted: Filthy Flan-Nappers) and learns real-time combat basics. Kory returns as an early boss — a franchise callback rather than one of the six rebel generals holding flan. Focus on dash timing and light-attack combos. Any starting weapon works; Gun and Sword remain community favourites.

Chapter 2 — Asha to Ashes

Asha guards the first stolen flan portion. Enemy density increases; start using guard breaks and RB/R1 skills on cooldown. Unlock Item World access through the Dark Chocolate Assembly around this point if you have not already.

Chapter 3 — Rock-a-Bye Andy

Rock Andy introduces heavier melee patterns and larger arena layouts. Experiment with Spear reach or Fist speed if Sword feels slow. Recruit your first Battle Buddy if RNG allows — Magichange helps crowd control before the boss phase.

Chapter 4 — Out-Rawked

Rise N. Cane uses aggressive rush attacks. Keep moving; standing still in wave phases dies quickly. This chapter is a good checkpoint for a longer Item World session — reviewers often over-level here before mid-campaign spikes.

Chapter 5 — Rozala

Rozala mixes ranged pressure with summon waves. Gun or Bow simplifies add clearance; melee players should dash through packs rather than fight every enemy. Check Best Weapons for Beginners if one class feels underpowered.

Chapter 6 — Nom Nom Dom-ination

Granute is a tanky boss with extended break-meter phases. Save Ult. Skills for break windows. HL rewards start mattering — bank currency for Assembly bribes and Rosen Queen stock.

Chapter 7 — TIMBER!!!

John-Zuck closes out the rebel general arc before the finale. Difficulty jumps if you skipped Item World; aim for level 85+ on a clean run or 120+ comfortably. Complete the Flan Toppings Rally side structure if available before Chapter 8 (achievement: Home Sweets Home).

Chapter 8 — Final Episode: Pristine Gleam Battlefield

Grand Minister Wurst confronts N.A. and Tichelle at the Pristine Gleam Battlefield in the closing story beat. Wurst mixes ranged and melee patterns; break meter and skill counters still apply. Defeating him unlocks The Wurst Offender and transitions into the post-game epilogue — see Post-Game and Epilogue for level 200–600 spikes afterward.

General Combat Tips for Story Mode

  • Dash constantly — short cooldown, primary survival tool
  • Break bosses first — sustained light attacks fill the meter; heavy attacks and counters accelerate it
  • One weapon main — spreading skill points across four weapon trees weakens mid-campaign damage
  • Cheat Shop is safe — PS5 trophies and Steam achievements are not disabled by Cheat Shop settings per launch documentation
  • Do not rush Reincarnation during story — save cycles for post-game; see Reincarnation

How Long Is the Story?

Critics in the Launch Reviews roundup describe the campaign as onboarding for Item World and Carnage systems rather than a 30-hour RPG. Plan accordingly.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions from Disgaea Mayhem players.

How many chapters are in Disgaea Mayhem?

Eight main story chapters plus a Final Episode at Pristine Gleam Battlefield against Grand Minister Wurst. Most players finish in 5–10 hours before epilogue content.

Should I grind Item World during the story?

Yes. Launch-week consensus strongly recommends 2–3 Item World floors between chapters. Early dives make boss fights trivial and teach the post-game loop before epilogue level spikes.

Who are the chapter bosses in order?

Kory, Asha, Rock Andy, Rise N. Cane, Rozala, Granute, John-Zuck, then Grand Minister Wurst at Pristine Gleam Battlefield. Each rebel general holds a stolen flan portion except Kory (franchise callback) and Wurst (final antagonist).

What level should I be for the final chapter?

The game expects around level 85 for a no-grind clear. With Item World between chapters, level 120+ makes Wurst comfortable. Epilogue content afterward jumps to 200–600 requirements.
